Music
Music is one of the things without which life would be very different, perhaps very dull… I see it as a great way of expressing what is within, that also reaches, connects and unites people. It is like a universal language with which a person communicates with another. It is a means of communication that transcends the language barrier.
Although music has always been a significant part of my life since I was young and I do play gigs when called for, I’m not an academically trained nor a professional musician, and I’m not pretending to be one either. Nowadays, playing music for me is more of an opportunity to practice being present… where I just sit and play whatever melody that comes up in my mind from moment to moment. You can say it is like an exercise of trusting the flow of life… which constantly changes from one moment to the next… not knowing what’s coming next but smilingly, feeling strangely comfortable with that… It is like an exercise of letting go of expecting perfection, which for many years has caused quietly untold struggles in my life, that fortunately I’m slowly but surely coming out of.

The following is a collection of light impromptus, the very first ‘mini album’ I recorded within a few weeks after completing my first Vipassana meditation retreat at Dhamma Medini, the secluded meditation centre nestled amongst the native bush of New Zealand. Some were inspired by the experiences I had while I was there, spending 10 days in silence within the tranquil surroundings… and some were inspired by how much gratitude I feel for having my wife and companion, Marcia, in my life… in fact, I dedicated this very first ‘mini album’ to her.

What can I say……….thank you so much for sharing your lovely music. I poured a glass of red (Pinor Noir) and enjoyed both. It is so relaxing mate – I have added it to my favourite list and will listen to it whenever I need to relax….lol. Just brought back nice memories of Shreya (as she loves music too)….imagining her dancing to your tunes. Nice to see you dedicated this album to Marcia…you both deserve each other…..and thanks for being a great friend (and ex-neighbour…miss those old days).
